The Welcome Party

Thursday, September 17, 2026

AZUL Rooftop Barceloneta | 5:30 PM to 10:30 PM

Join us for an evening of laughter, drinks, and good vibes, celebrating with traditional Nigerian wedding customs!

Dress Code

We invite you to wear traditional Nigerian outfits or colorful and/or patterned formal clothing!

For women, traditional attire often includes a beautifully tailored top and a wrapper (similar to a skirt) or a dress. Another element of this attire is the Gele, a head wrap made from a firm, colorful fabric that can be tied in elaborate designs. If you would like to wear one, we will have a professional Gele tyer available on the evening. Men typically wear a traditional shirt and trousers.

Whether you choose to wear Nigerian clothing or your own colorful, patterned attire, we look forward to kicking off celebrating our love with you in style!

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the most important information to check on my passport?

Due to the laws and regulations of the European Union, please ensure that you check your passport expiration date. Most countries within the EU require your passport to be valid for at least six months beyond your planned date of departure.

If your US passport requires renewal, please plan! Currently, passport processing times are about 6- 8 weeks.

Also, check if you need a visa to enter Spain depending on the country you are traveling from, as requirements can vary.

What airport should I fly into?

Guests should plan to fly into Barcelona - El Prat Airport (BCN), which is the main international airport serving the city. It’s located about 20-25 minutes from the city center and offers direct flights from many major U.S. and European cities.

Once you arrive, taxis and ride-share services (Uber) are easily available. For guests staying at our main hotels, shuttle details will be provided for the wedding events.

What’s the best way to get around Barcelona?

Barcelona is a very walkable city, and for longer distances, Uber and taxis are convenient and widely available. The metro and bus system are also reliable, safe, and easy to navigate. If you prefer added comfort, private transfers can be arranged through most hotels (including our main hotels) - and wedding day shuttles will be provided for guests staying at The Majestic Hotel

Are children allowed at the wedding events?

We adore your little ones, but our wedding events will be adults-only celebrations. We hope this gives you the chance to relax, celebrate, and enjoy a special time in Barcelona!

What’s the weather in Barcelona like in September?

September is one of the most beautiful times to visit Barcelona, with warm days and mild evenings that perfectly capture the end of summer. Temperatures typically range from the mid 70s to low 80s °F (mid 20s °C) during the day and cool comfortably at night.

Our ceremony and cocktail hour will take place outdoors, so you can expect plenty of sunshine and a light Mediterranean breeze. We recommend dressing comfortably for warm weather and bringing a light layer for the evening as the temperature dips after sunset.

What is the dress code for the Wedding and Welcome Party?

You’ll find all the details about attire for each event in the Wedding Events section of our website. There, you can see dress code guidance and style inspiration for both the Welcome Party and the Wedding Day.
